About Suisse Guest House

Suisse Guest House is located in the former “Suisse Hotel” building – once the most famous and luxurious hotel in Chisinau.

Located in the heart of the city near all the major attractions – Suisse Hotel building is a great heritage for Chisinau of significant historical importance. Today it hosts the Public Library “B.P. Hasdeu”, the Suisse Guest House and other private apartments.

HISTORY

It’s construction began in 1835 by Ivan and Annastasia Monastirsky who built side by side two separate houses 2-stores each located between todays Mitropolit Gavriil Bănulescu Bodoni and Teatrului streets and facing the central boulevard, today’s Ştefan cel Mare Bd. The construction is finished only by 1844. In the ’60s of the 19th century these buildings were united for the Theological Seminary. Since 1870 the building was used for various educational purposes and in 1874 is rented to the Swiss citizen named – Charles Sailladeni who opened the “Suisse Hotel”. During the WWII the building was almost completely destroyed and rebuilt in 1947 by E.R. Spirer plan who was assisted by A.V. Sciusev architect. The building keeps the similar facade but gets the 3rd floor built.

FAMOUS PEOPLE AT SUISSE HOTEL

Since 1863 and till World War II many famous people stayed here among which Feodor Chaliapin – Russian opera singer, King Milan I of Serbia, French novelist Henri Barbusse and many others. You can view the full list of famous people who stayed at Suisse Hotel here.

TODAY’S SUISSE GUEST HOUSE

The famous Suisse Hotel is reborn in Chisinau. For the first time after more then 60 years the building started receiving its new guests. It happened in late 2011. The Suisse Guest House is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the former Suisse Hotel building and currently consists of 5 apartments.

The apartments are completely refurbished and host all the modern equipment. Besides being located in the center of the city, near the main square and just across the statue for the most beloved ruler of Moldova – Stephen the Great, you’ll be touching the history. Don’t try to find anything else of it’s kind in Chisinau – there are no other historical hotels left.

Each apartment is unique and has it’s name: Spanish Delight, Parisian Chic, African Beat, Urban Space and Indian Dream. The apartments have everything to make your stay comfortable: large rooms, comfortable beds, spacious baths, LCD-TV, Wi-Fi, etc. Toilet articles and kitchen utensils, bathroom towels, bed linen, etc – are all included in the price.
